Don teamed up with Scott Cam to create a seaside garden featuring a beautiful, cypress pine boardwalk. A new gravel driveway was laid, and the garden was mass planted with spectacular Gymea lilies.

Getting started

A plan was drawn to scale showing all aspects of the proposed garden in relation to the house, other existing buildings and boundaries. Our design included a raised boardwalk and a planting guide. The plan also showed the locations of all services (water pipes, sewerage, power, phone, etc) so we could avoid damaging them during the makeover.
Before starting work we checked with the local council to find out about planning approvals required for the job. We had to obtain permission to remove a dying gum tree (Eucalyptus citriodora).
(Note: Trees in urban areas are covered by Tree Preservation Orders administered by the local council. You may need permission from the council to prune or remove a tree. A tree care professional will be able to offer advice on this process.)
The old, dated pavers on the driveway were removed. An asphalt paving specialist (Ozpave Pty Ltd) was called in to install a two-pack cold-seal Nepean River pebble driveway.
Unwanted plant material was removed from the site, and a bobcat was used to excavate levels for Scott
